Hello fellow entrepreneurs!!!
We hope that you are prepared for a fun-filled time at S.E.E.K. this year, as we will be operating the SEEK store as well as developing and selling some of our own product ideas.
Your “homework” assignment for the next couple of weeks, before we see each other on June 12th, is to think of a few ideas that our “business” can develop, market, and sell. While you are thinking of these ideas, please write down the supplies that we would need to make the product and any ideas that you would have for marketing (promoting) the product.
On the first day, please bring the following to class: your idea sheet, a pencil and a spiral notebook to write other ideas in. We will provide you with a binder for our time together, that way we will all stay organized and have our business materials all in one place! Also, as “business owners”, we would like to see a smile and a positive attitude each day!!!
Until June 12th, make the most out of the school time you have left! If you have further questions, please contact us by phone at 651-213-2153 or by e-mail at [email protected] .
Sincerely,
Mrs. Spray

Day one (June 12, 2018)
Wow! What an exciting day we had yesterday! We talked about how our class was going to make money throughout our 12 days at SEEK; we talked about what products our class was going to market to the other SEEK students; we ran the snack shop for the first time and those that cashiered did an amazing job! Their homework assignment for the night was to find out about a charity of their choice that they would present to the class the next day and we would vote on two to donate a % of our profits to. They also needed to give it some thought as to what % they would like to donate, 15% being the minimum. Today the only product that we sold, that was ¨ours,¨ was bottled water. At the end of the day, we were ¨in the red¨ by eight cents! Let´s see what tomorrow will bring. Day two (June 13, 2018) They were ¨off and running¨ with production this morning. They were busy making stress balls (our of balloons and colored sand), duct tape bags, rubber band bracelets, and fun fushion shapes. We took a break to discuss our charities and the percentage we will give to those charities. The suggestions that were made for charity choices were: an animal shelter, Feed My Starving Children, Children´s Hospital, World Wildlife Fund, Breast Cancer Fund, and an organization that supports dementia research. The final vote came in and we will be sending 10% to each charity, Feed My Starving Children and Children´s Hospital. I´ve attached some pictures from today. At the end of the day today, we were ¨in the black¨ by $12.91! Day three (June 14, 2018) We had an extremely busy day today. I switched up how we recorded our expenses on our transaction records (which each entrepreneur keeps a record of). We recorded our expenses before we ran the snack shop and they were -$16.83 ¨in the red.¨ Then snack time came and they are now ¨in the black¨ $33.92. Next week we will be recording our daily sales on the computer to create a spreadsheet that will allow us to create a pie chart showing our sales for the first week of business. Your son/daughter will be bringing this home with them when we are finished. |
Extended Day information.....
We will start our day out like normal, at school and running the snack shop for those classes that stay on campus. At 10:45 A.M. we will walk up to the Frandsen Bank that is a few blocks away for a tour and to learn some things we don´t know about the operations of a bank.
After our tour, we will walk to Pizza Hut for lunch. I will attach a copy of their kid´s menu that is available to each student. Also, their buffet is available for $5/student (please send an extra $1 for a tip). You are welcome to send the money in anytime, as I will collect their money and pay for it all together.
After lunch, we will return to school for some production time and the buses leave at 2:30 P.M.

Day four (June 15th)...sorry this is late!
After our expenses and before we started our snack break work time, we were ¨in the red¨ -$28.91. It was a tough day in the area of accuracy when counting our products. I think we have corrected the problem and will be more accurate in the days to come.
Day five (June 18th)
A day of celebration....we were still ¨in the black¨ $3.38 after our expenses and before snack shop! I´ve been pleased with the group, as they haven´t let themselves get disappointed when we have fallen ¨in the red.¨ We finished the day at +$70.38!!
We will be visiting the computer lab on Wednesday and Thursday to create our spreadsheets and charts of our sales from last week.
Day six (June 19th)
Today was filled with a lot of conversation about Open House in just one week from today! A few students found information online about pizza places in the area and also where we could buy sand in bulk if they decide to continue making stress balls. Then one of our students, Ryley, volunteered to make the phone calls to the businesses to find out the information we needed to know. Way to go, Ryley He did say that a few
didn´t believe him, but after the explanation of why he was calling, they worked with him. Check back tomorrow to find out our Open House menu!
After expenses and before snack shop, we were +$36.18! We broke $100 in profits today and the group was excited to see that! As of right now, we are +$102.93!!
