Last Day
We had a blast today as we tried to clear out the Crashing Wave cult. The druid was almost instantly killed by a special attack from a Sea Hag, but instead of diing, transformed into a werewolf and sprang at the opponent. Unsure about the turn of events, the party reluctantly accepted their druid friends new ability and they were able to take down the powerful foe. Finding the rest of this place deserted as people fled, another area is now secure. They don't know this but they would have leveled after this fight and could return to town or continue to the earth cult. Unfortunately, our time is done for project seek.
I want to thank everyone who signed up, and wish you all a wonderful summer. I had a blast with each and every one of you. Stay cool!

Day 10 & 11
Students continue to learn how to best work as a team, and honing their base ten number sense and mental math. They are getting better at sharing their loot in order to best help the team and are becoming stronger because of it. We're still working on thinking "what would my character do?" Below is a synopsis of their adventures yesterday and today. Here's also a picture of them in the midst of the chaos.
Today we took over the final elemental group. They dealt with a rather large attack force all at once, but luckily had some backup near the end. In the process one of the team was bitten by a werewolf, but seems to be handling it on her own. Now that each surface keep is secured, it's going to be time to venture into the depths and rid the area of leaders. Before setting off they first went to a major city to spend some of their loot to buy some magical items. However, on the return home their mounts were mysteriously eaten in the night. The druid seems traumatized by the situation and isn't able to reveal anything to the group about what she saw that night since she was on watch. The party gathered supplies and ventured into the depths. Managing to gain an audience with the air Queen and dispatching her quickly had the rest of the place fleeing. However, word has come to them of a surface attack on their beloved base town of Red Larch. They bravely push forward to the next underground keep.
If you are unable to attend open house tonight, they will also be bringing their artwork, stories, dice, and miniatures home with them on the last day to share them with you. If you can make it, I look forward to meeting you. Be sure to check out what people are doing in the other rooms and stop by the cafeteria for some walking tacos, hotdogs, or random snacks and knick knacks that we normally have available.

Day 9
The students continued the adventure underground, using the druid in shark form to pull their boat through an underground river. They found a rather large complex and did some sneaking around. They managed to clear out a few enemies, including a pair of trolls. The decision was made to retreat for now, though, and return to town for a rest and to regroup. In town they heard more about this strange new druid circle and gathering. They will be checking that out next time. We continue to enjoy counting, and keeping track of the various things our characters can do. Students are also working on restraint with spontaneous action that may lead to trouble for the group.

Day 8 (extended)
The group dealt with two elemental groups today to make good use of the extra time. We had a lot of fun rolling some big damage spells like fireball or a high powered critical hit. It's always fun rolling a handfull of dice for damage, and even more fun for me to have them count it up! Characters are level 5 now, which means they are starting to really have a lot of things to keep track of all at once. They are also building teamwork as they help remind each other of cool things they can do, and are coordinating attacks for the best effects.

Day 7
Tomorrow is our extended day. We will be staying in the building and continuing our adventure. The snack shop will be open, but that should not be their entire lunch. Please plan on having the students bring a bag lunch.
Our miniatures arrived today, so they all were able to use their on miniature, which was exciting. We talked a bit about painting options, but I don't think we will be painting them here. The cheapest option for painting minis is spraying them with a primer, and then painting them silver, with a watered down black (we call it a "wash") which brings out the shadows and makes it less silvery. It's a great way to see detail without worrying about colors. After painting, minis should be sprayed with a "dullcote" spray to keep the paint from chipping off during play. All supplies can be found at any hobby shop.
In terms of our adventuring, they had some near-death experiences today as they ran into some fire enemies. Be sure to ask them how they did.

Day 6
The tower now clear, the team levels up again and is able to rework their character sheets as they gain new ability increases. We continue to work on adding small numbers quickly using mental math.

Day 5
Today our party followed some leads to an outpost of knights that prefer flying mounts. To get there they had to purchase and use a wagon to reach the far off destination. A couple of mis-steps in speaking too fast almost got them into trouble on more than one occasion, but they managed to infiltrate the tower and go on a quest with them. They were able to ride hippogriffs around a valley to hunt a dangerous manticore. Errors were made, however, and one of them ended up in jail, scheduled for execution. He was saved by a feathered race and was able to regroup with the team shortly after, in which they made plans to clear out the tower.
As the characters reach higher levels, they begin to do more damage and are required to roll more damage dice. They are getting practice adding larger numbers from lots of small numbers to increase their number-sense. We continue to work on group dynamics and team-work and planning.

Day 4
Our adventurers rooted out the evil that was infesting the peaceful town of Red Larch. They were able to start an investigation into some strange aspects of what was going on together with the constable. Strange news from abroad about a missing delegation is a buzz in the town, and demands the attention of our party.
They leveled up again to level 3 now. This gives them access to class specializations and additional features to keep track of. The students are learning to work together as a team in order to accomplish their goal, and finding out that sometimes it is better to think before jumping into action. :D They also found a very nice magical dagger which the rogue is now making use of.

Day 3
Today the students reached their first level-up. We got to calculate new hit-point amounts and figure out any new skills that we had access to. They were able to return to town where a rather interesting development occurred as a sink-hole formed in the center of town swallowing innocent bystanders. They leapt to the rescue and discovered that the room below was a part of a larger complex that they have begun exploring.
Students have begun discovering interesting loot, and it's fun to see these items get added to their character art, or weaved into their stories.

Day 2
We took our adventurers out for a spin today. They explored their first town and followed a few leads. Someone suggested they check out a cave for treasure instead of following a particular lead, which they decided was a great idea! Turns out the cave had blood sucking monstrous mosquitos that nearly killed them all. Whew! Close call. We're getting a lot of practice adding numbers less than 20 and recalling all of the important facts of our characters and how to use them. Be sure to ask your student all about it.

Day 1
Today we learned how to get started including everything from group etiquette to rolling dice to making characters. They each had some practice quickly adding numbers to build their starting attributes. Students will daily also refine their character art and back stories while we play. Each student has selected a miniature for their character, and an order has been placed. They will receive them as soon as I do.

Welcome Students and Families,
We will soon be embarking on an adventure. It doesn't matter if you've played before or if you are completely new, we're going to have a great time. All you have to do is bring a good attitude and your imaginations.
Our first day will explore what game play is like and create our characters. While you will need to bring nothing extra to our class, if you do happen to have any 5th edition D&D books, feel free to bring those. You'll want to start thinking about what kind of character you would like to play. We will create those characters, their stories, and maybe even some character art!
Let the adventures begin,
